Super typhoon Megi/Juan, a category IV storm just battered our country and we weathered it quite well with a minimal loss of lives. Thanks to the preparation and response of the concerned bodies from the national government to the local whose action no doubt greatly helped to minimize casualties.
Special mention and credit must also be given to our weather bureau-PAGASA- for its now more frequent and constant briefing of the public on the status of the storm as it passed through the northern part of the country.
It seems that since the firing of the head of PAGASA a few months back for failing to correctly track the path of a typhoon that hit Manila and catching people off guard, the PAGASA people now take their jobs more seriously and are on their toes. This is as it should be and no excuses.
The bearable aftermath of this superstorm is a feat that validates the wisdom of firing that former head of our weather bureau.
Now, it seems, there is now hope in PAGASA.
